Dogs are truly man’s best friend. And that applies to everyone, even the world’s most famous people. From celebrities to world leaders, no one seems to be immune to canines’ innocent charm and playful demeanor. But just like us regular folks, famous people have a preference for certain dog breeds.

The American Kennel Club (AKC) recognizes almost 200 breeds, with 79 additional ones vying for recognition. That said there’s bound to be vast differences in each kind’s temperament and qualities. Find out what kind of pooches your favorite stars chose to add to their families and what characteristics they loved about them.

Poodle - Doris Day And Meryl Streep’s Elegant Work Mates

Don’t let Poodles’ elegant physical features fool you. The dog breed also boasts of athletic qualities, especially the standard-sized ones. No wonder Meryl Streep’s and Doris Day’s furry buddies had no problem keeping up with the hustle and bustle of movie sets.

The late Dream a Little Dream of Me singer was known to bring her pet Poodle, Smudge, on the set of her 1959 film Pillow Talk. Meanwhile, Streep had her dog Michael running around while shooting 2019’s Little Women as her co-star Saoirse Ronan revealed in an interview.

Akita - Cher’s Fiercely Loyal Companion

Thanks to the famously loyal Akita dog Hachiko, who waited for his deceased master for years at a train station, Japan’s trusty dog breed won fans from all over the world. Goddess of Pop Cher is one of them. She herself owned one Akita whom she called Kuma.

The Believe singer described her late companion as the smartest and most beautiful dog. And though he passed away sometime around the 00s, Cher still keeps a framed photo of him on her tabletop. What’s a better way to commemorate a dignified and courageous Akita?

Shar Pei - Whitney Cummings’ Protective Guardian

You may know Whitney Cummings best for her stand-up work on Netflix’s Can I Touch It, but she’s also busy working behind the camera on animal protection causes. Among her three dogs is a Shar Pei called Violet, who she rescued from a shelter.

Thanks to her tender loving care, the once-malnourished pup regained her breed's vigor and tenacity characteristic. Violet isn’t the only lucky one here. We’re sure Cummings would also appreciate it when the Shar Pei’s protective instincts kick in, and it serves as her and her family’s guardian.

Pomeranian - Kim Kardashian’s Tiny Yet Vivacious Pet

With four young kids in her house, Kim Kardashian made the right choice picking up three Pomeranian pups as family pets in 2019. According to the AKC, the small but vivacious breed is among the most popular toy dogs in the world.

What’s more, she can rest assured her three Poms won’t be causing too much damage to her furniture even when playtime with the Kardashian-West brood leads to some roughhousing. The foxy-faced breed only weighs around three to seven pounds and is already full-grown at seven inches.

Golden Retriever - Betty White And Jackie Chan’s Devoted Pals

Betty White and Jackie Chan are among the most beloved celebrities today. So, we’re not surprised to hear that they share a love for Golden Retrievers, which the AKC dubbed as one of America’s favorite dogs. The Golden Girls Star owns a pooch named Pontiac, while Chan has JJ and Jones.

Golden Retrievers are known for being devoted creatures, whether it comes to their family or while at work. You can also say they’re big babies as they take their puppyish charm to adulthood. That’s certainly the kind of youthful energy that older people like Chan, who’s in his 60s, and White, would enjoy in her 90s.

Maltipoo - Ellen DeGeneres And Portia De Rossi’s Sweet Family Member

Pet Guide describes the Maltipoo, a cross of a Maltese and a Poodle, as a designer dog. However, Ellen DeGeneres and Portia de Rossi thought of their Maltipoo Wolf, who died in 2020, as part of the family. And it’s not hard to see why.

The crossbreed seems to have gotten the best of both worlds from its parents. Wolf was a sweet and outgoing pup that treated everyone like his best friend. For all the joy that he brought into the couple’s life, even witnessing their marriage ceremony in 2008, DeGeneres hopes that they also did the same for him.

Maltese - Elizabeth Taylor’s Affectionate Pooch

Elizabeth Taylor has been a dog lover since childhood. And to her last days, she doted on her Maltese pets. The one she loved most was one called Sugar. According to Another Magazine, the Cleopatra actress bought her as a puppy and had her until the pooch died in 2005.

Taylor would go on to seek out two more, Delilah and Daisy, who would outlive her when she died in 2011 after years of struggling with heart problems. You’d understand her love for the breed, though, knowing its affectionate nature. And although the Maltese can be willful, their friendliness more than makes up for it.

Bullmastiff - Sylvester Stallone’s Reliable Best Friend

Some people say that dogs tend to look like their owners, so we aren’t surprised that Sylvester Stallone chose a Bullmastiff called Butkus as his best friend. Both exhibit physical strength with their muscular physique. However, the two of them also share qualities beyond what the eye can see.

For years, they relied on each other before Stallone caught his big break with the film Rocky. The Oscar-nominated actor shares how his confidant truly loved him for who he was even before he came into money and became a movie star.

Cocker Spaniel - Brigitte Bardot’s Energetic Clown

Brigitte Bardot’s love for animals is well-documented even before she retired from the screen and focused on fighting for animal rights. Her photos from the ‘50s and ‘60s show her with the many dogs she cared for while working as an actress. There’s her black Cocker Spaniel, Clown, for example.

According to Bardot’s ex-husband Roger Vadim, the pup was a gift and a lucky one at that. Cocker Spaniels are known for being energetic dogs who love walks and playing. That said, Clown was probably more than happy to accompany Bardot in her jet-set lifestyle at the time.

German Shepherd - Doris Duke and Jackie Kennedy’s Dutiful Guardians

The late heiress Doris Duke’s life was a great mystery to many, but her love for dogs is well-known. She even left her pets a trust fund when she died in the ‘90s. Among her favorites were German shepherds, who guarded her Falcon Lair estate.

Given the breed’s dutiful loyalty to their families, it’s no wonder that former First Lady Jackie Kennedy also doted on Clipper, a German shepherd and one of the Kennedys’ many pets. The late style icon was often pictured with the dog in tow during her time living in the White House.

Cavalier King Charles Spaniel - Margaret Thatcher’s Affectionate Companion

As it turns out, not even the Iron Lady can resist the charm dogs. According to the National Purebred Dog Day organization, the late UK Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher had an affinity for canines and has even owned various breeds. Among her pets was a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, which is known for its affectionate personality.

Her love for dogs would continue until her latter years, even as she battles dementia. Photos taken a year before she passed away in 2013 shows her petting pups at a park. Perhaps they reminded her of her former pets?

Shih Poo - Ricki Lake’s Loving Savior

As Hairspray actress Ricki Lake likes to say, she rescued her pet Mama and then she returned the favor. The 52-year-old The Masked Singer star shares that the Shih Poo (a mix of a Shih Tzu and Poodle) became her legal therapy dog as she coped with her husband's death in 2017.

The pup likely got its affectionate nature from its Shih Tzu side. You see, the Lion Dogs are known to be loving towards their family, especially with kids. Of course, we bet the breed’s cuteness also helps cheer up Lake during darker days.

English Cocker Spaniel - Prince William and Duchess Kate’s Merry Pet

In a way, Lupo, a black English Cocker Spaniel, was Prince William and Kate Middleton’s firstborn before their brood of three children started coming along in 2011. We can only imagine how devastated the couple was when the nine-year-old pooch passed away in 2020.

Often described as merry and energetic pets by other owners, Spaniels can be the perfect companion for a young and growing family such as the Cambridges’. Maybe Prince George and his two younger siblings can play with the Queen’s Spaniel, Mallowdale Diamond, in the meantime.

Boxer - Humphrey Bogart And Lauren Bacall’s Bright Pets

Film legends Humphrey Bogart and Lauren Bacall took care of Boxers before they started having kids. Their first pet is a week-old puppy, which the couple named Harvey, that Louis Bromfield gifted them for their wedding in 1945. Eventually, their pet family grew as two more Boxers, Baby and George, entered their home.

Bacall described Harvey as a brilliant pup, which is a testament to the breed’s reputation for being bright and alert creatures. Their loyalty is also proven by the fact that Harvey died just months after his master passed away in 1957.

Great Dane Mix - Michael J. Fox’s Patient Pal

Battling an illness like Parkinson's disease is a tough challenge. But Back to the Future actor Michael J. Fox finds an avid supporter in his dog Gus, who is a Great Dane mutt. He shares how his pet can sense whenever he’s feeling down and comforts him accordingly.

That’s certainly something Gus inherited from his ancestors, who have a reputation for being patient people pleasers. In fact, the Canadian born actor even jokes that his friendly dog is why people approach them while on walks and not because of his celebrity status.

Chihuahua - Goldie Hawn’s Compact Friend

Browsing through Snatched actress Goldie Hawn’s Instagram, you’ll find out that she is a dog lover. It seems like she has four pups at the moment, one of them being a cute brown Chihuahua. Being a tiny dog with a big personality, you can see why the comic was drawn to the breed.

Although Hawn doesn’t share much about her pets, we can surmise that her Chihuahua is likely a mixed one. According to the AKC, pure ones typically don’t reach the same size as hers topping at just six pounds and standing short at eight inches max.

Pit Bull - Jennifer Aniston’s Misunderstood Friend

Pit Bulls have gotten a bad reputation for being an aggressive breed. What some don’t realize, though, is that the misunderstood creature makes for an excellent pet even for families when socialized and trained properly. Jennifer Aniston proves this with her Pit Bull mix companion Sophie.

Based on what the Morning Show actress shares on her social media, Sophie has no problem living with her other canine siblings Clyde and Lord Chesterfield, who joined their four-legged family in 2020. Of course, Aniston’s experience caring for her late pet, the German shepherd Dolly, gave her a lot of practice.

Pekingese - Betty White’s Regal Bandit

Before the Golden Retriever Pontiac stole Betty White’s heart, there was the cute Pekingese Bandit. The long-haired pup was among the three dogs the Hot in Cleveland star had as a young woman in the ‘50s. She described Bandy, as she lovingly called him, as a sensible older dog who spent his time napping and being served by her parents.

While we can chalk that up to Bandy’s old age at the time, that might also have to do with the breed’s regal origins as the preferred pet of ancient China’s ruling classes. Of course, Pekingese have many redeeming qualities, too, from their loyalty to their confident demeanor.

Bichón Frisé - María Elena Salinas’ Peppy Ricky

You may be used to seeing María Elena Salinas as a serious anchor on TV, but The Real Story host is also a loving dog mom behind the scenes. Every now and then, she would share photos of her late pet Ricky on her Facebook page.

The pup, who appears to be a short-haired Bichón Frisé, was a faithful companion to her and her two daughters. The breed, which has a peppy and playful temperament, is a great choice for her small family, given its distinct white hypoallergenic coat of hair.

Yorkshire Terrier - Audrey Hepburn’s Feisty Charmer

Is there a more iconic duo than Audrey Hepburn and her Givenchy LBD? Yes, as dog lovers might argue. The Breakfast at Tiffany’s star and her aptly-named Yorkshire Terrier, Mr. Famous, is a pairing many find adorable to this day. Audrey fans won’t forget about the pooch’s cameo in Funny Face.

The feisty and sometimes bossy breed went from Victorian ladies' laps to America, where it was first spotted in the 1870s. Charming everyone with its dainty features and long, glossy coat, it’s no surprise that a member of the breed delighted Hepburn enough to buy a diamond collar with her first Hollywood salary.

Newfoundland - Humphrey Bogart’s Sweet-Tempered Buddy

Before Humphrey Bogart started caring for Boxers, he adored a Newfoundland named Cappy. While the dog came when he was still with his third wife, Mayo Methot, we don’t doubt that he would’ve gotten along well with Bogart’s new family with his on-screen and off-screen partner Lauren Bacall.

The breed, which is among the world's biggest, is a renowned sweet-tempered companion and has a reputation for being a great nanny dog to children. Bogart and Bacall welcomed two kids together, a son Stevie, and a daughter, Leslie, before the Casablanca actor succumbed to cancer in 1957.

Miniature Poodle - Winston Churchill’s Smart Entertainer

Looking at Winston Churchill’s intimidating physique and legacy, you wouldn’t expect that the former UK prime minister found companionship with two brown miniature Poodles: Rufus and Rufus II. Yes, he named his second dog after the first one when it passed away.

His choice makes sense, though, if you think about it. The breed has a knack for entertaining and is known for being smart to boot. Thus, the dog’s company was sought out not just by other European nobles. The AKC also notes Poodles’ long history with the circus.

Dachshund - Queen Victoria And Prince Albert’s Spunky Hounds

Queen Victoria and Prince Albert are another royal duo who found joy in caring for dogs— lots of them. Among the many canines the rulers had during their 64-year reign were Dachshunds named Waldman and Waldina.

With many people and matters vying for her attention, Queen Victoria likely appreciated the diversion of the breed’s spunky personality. She might have even taken the long-bodied hounds while hunting at Balmoral Castle. Dachshunds may not be the best runners, but their tireless nature is an asset to the activity.

Papillon - Marie Antoinette’s Fashionable Pooch

The Papillon is a fashionable dog breed that’s famously associated with Marie-Antoniette and Madame de Pompadour, King Louis XV’s influential mistress. Initially known as a dwarf spaniel, the pooch got its current name from the French word for butterfly due to its flared ears.

Given its glamorous owners and appearance in some Old Master paintings, the Papillon has earned a reputation for being a fashionable dog. It’s more than just that, though. Marie-Antoinette’s Papillon Thisbe reportedly stood by her until her last days, proving that the friendly and happy breed can also be loyal.

Bouvier des Flandres - Ronald And Nancy Reagan’s Strong-Willed Companion

When former President Ronald Reagan and his wife Nancy moved into the White House in the early ‘80s, they took their Bouvier des Flanders dog Lucky with them. But while the pooch got to live the high life with the first family for a while, riding helicopters and chilling at the Oval Office, he had to be moved out to the Reagans’ ranch.

Like other members of the breed, Lucky grew too large. The strong-willed Bouvier des Flanders can weigh up to 110 pounds and stand at over two feet. Luckily, Reagan still came by the ranch to see his beloved pet.

Dachshund - Danny DeVito's Well-Dressed Companion

A picture of the It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia actor Danny DeVito walking his dachshund around New York made headlines worldwide. The photo was shared on Reddit, and the commentators loved how cute the two looked during their Big Apple stroll.

We all imagined DeVito had a thing for dachshunds, also known as 'sausage dogs.' But we didn't expect his lovely pet to show up wearing a stylish yellow dress! In 2021, it's rumored that DeVito may be about to reprise his classical role as Penguin in the upcoming The Flash movie.

Mixed Breed - Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively's Obedient Pup

Known for their sassiness on social media, the actors Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively make for one of the most lovely celeb couples in the world today. But the two lovebirds are not alone. Besides taking care of three young girls, the power-couple relies on the company of Billie, their adorable and well-trained pet.

Reynolds shared a picture of Billie on Instagram, and he seems to be super proud of his pup! Billie was coached by the trainer Nick White and looks like the kind of obedient furry companion who knows how to pull off one or two cool tricks.

German Pointer & Irish Wolfhound - Heidi Klum's Two Furry Best Friends

It's tough to be noticed when you happen to live with Heidi Klum, the sensational German-American supermodel, TV host, and businesswoman. But Klum's lovely dogs, Capper and Anton, have been making some headlines lately.

Paparazzi caught Klum having a walk with Capper in Berlin, and the two looked like the most fashionable celeb-pet duos we've ever seen! As for the more discreet Anton, he was introduced to Klum's fans with a picture uploaded on Instagram. The furry cutie looked very excited to see Tokio Hotel's guitarist Tom Kaulitz, Klum's current husband.

Havanese - Michelle Pfeiffer's Companion of 18 Years

If you love animals, you know pets can be just as vital for your happiness as any other member of your family. And when they're around for a whopping 18 years, that only makes them even more special. But sadly, not all things last forever.

Award-winning actress Michelle Pfeiffer was heartbroken in 2020 after sharing a picture of her lovely pet buddy Freddie, who passed away after "18 years of love and pure joy." The little white pooch looked like a perfect companion and lived the glamorous Hollywood high life for almost two decades.

Australian Shepherd, German Shepherd & Catahoula Hound Mixed Breed - Jennifer Love Hewitt's First Pet

In 2013, actress Jennifer Love Hewitt was going through a rough time. She'd just lost her mother, and she was having problems dealing with the grief. But a fortunate new introduction to the Hewitt household helped her cope with the pain and lift her spirit again.

Hewitt's lovely furry friend is a mix of Australian Shepherd, German Shepherd, and Catahoula Hound and is named Duke! According to the 9-1-1 actress, Duke has shown her a "real friendship" and has taught her a lot about commitment, dedication, and "what abandonment can look like."

Chihuahua - One of Ashton Kutcher's Many Lovely Dogs

The Ranch actor Ashton Kutcher has a long history with dogs. A bonafide animal lover, he has been photographed around all kinds of furry animals, with the little chihuahua Bama (a dog he shared with his ex-wife Demi Moore) being one of the most popular among the fans.

Married to another dog-lover, the actress Mila Kunis, Kutcher has rescued pets in the past and was once seen taking an old pet to the vet so he could be put down and laid to rest. The endearing moment showed a clearly heartbroken Kutcher holding an unwell pooch in his arms and showed just how much the man loves his furry friends.

Labrador Retriever - Helen Mirren's Recovering Pup

Besides being one of the world's most elegant and accomplished actresses, Dame Helen Mirren is a well-known dog lover who's even been interviewed in a room full of puppies! It's hard to pinpoint exactly how many pets the Anna actress has, but we know she owns a cute labrador retriever who goes by the name of Spinee.

In 2021, Spinee has reportedly been in and out of the vet's room and was forced to undergo a very risky surgery. After being treated at the London Veterinary Hospital, Mirren's furry friend was back home and ready to recover. That day, Mirren tweeted, "my dog Spinee needs your prayers."

Golden Retriever - Andrew Garfield and Emma Stone's Rescue Cutie

Considered to be the ideal family dog, the golden retriever is known for its lush golden fur and, most importantly, its unbreakable friendliness. Before splitting up in 2015, actors Andrew Garfield and Emma Stone were one of America's favorite sweetheart celebrity couples, and they had a lovely rescue dog named Ren to match their style.

Ren was a golden retriever who was adopted at the Spot! Los Angeles rescue by the two A-list actors. The lovely pup was reportedly a 2012 Christmas gift that Garfield and Stone shared with one another. How cute!

Shetland Sheepdog - Miley Cyrus's Arm-Tattooed Pet

We all know just how much actress/singer Miley Cyrus loves tattoos! But we never thought she was this passionate about her pets. Emu is Cyrus's beloved shetland sheepdog, and he was lucky enough to be honored with some ink...

Cyrus visited her favorite artist, Dr. Woo, and got herself a picture of her beloved shetland sheepdog forever engraved in the arm. The singer shared the portrait of the lovely dog with her Instagram fans and even announced the pup's full name: Emu Coyne Cyrus! More than part of the family, Emu is now literally part of Cyrus's body.

Husky - Jared Leto's Matching Buddy

All dogs will make you look good, but is there any dog more magnificent than the husky? Known for their wolf-like fur and stunning blue eyes, huskies can be considered one of the world's hunkiest pets. And what happens when a bonafide charmer like actor Jared Leto is photographed next to his beautiful husky?

The result is a heart-warming picture that's been shared all over the Internet. A popular breed, huskies, are the favorite furry friend of many other celebrities, including singer Rita Ora, actor Ben Stiller, and Twilight star Taylor Lautner.

Boxer - Justin Timberlake's Twin BFF's

Besides being a talented actor and singer who can also pull off some convincing dance moves, superstar Justin Timberlake is also a well-known dog lover. He's been photographed with many pets over the years, including a pitbull/labrador. But none are as charismatic as the lovely Buckley and Brennan.

The duo of boxers makes for Timberlake's favorite twin best friends, but the "Can't Stop the Feeling!" singer isn't always around to take care of them. Whenever Timberlake is busy touring the world, Buckley and Brennan are being cared for by his cousin Rachel. According to the former NSYNC hunk, Rachel "sort of has joint custody of the dogs."

English Bulldog - Adam Sandler's Sharp-Dressed Bud

English bulldogs make for one of the funniest and cutest pets out there, and actor Adam Sandler is just one of many celebrities who's surrendered to the charms of the delightful breed. His English bulldog is hilariously called Meatball and was once photographed in a sharp-looking suit, completed with a tiny cap on his head.

Other bulldog-loving celebrities out there include the musician/reality-television star Ozzy Osbourne, the singer Pink, and the actors Brad Pitt and Olivia Wilde. English bulldogs make for one of the most popular and iconic breeds globally, and celebs just love them!

Maltese - Tony Bennett's Happy Happy

No, it's not a mistake. The lovable Maltese pet of Tony Bennett is called Happy, and according to the pop singer, "she's the happiest dog" he's ever seen! The 94-year-old artist has mentioned Happy in one or two Twitter publications, and he even takes her along with him when he's traveling by plane.

It shows that a man is never too old to find love, especially when it comes to pups! Bennett and his wife Susan Crow even got matching pajamas for themselves and their pets, and Happy looked simply stunning wearing the tiny made-for-dogs red pajamas.

Poodle - Barbra Streisand's Elegant Companion

Singer Barbra Streisand is just one of many celebrities who have surrendered to the irresistible charm of the poodle. One of the most elegant and recognizable breeds globally, poodles make for the perfect pet: they're highly stylish, intelligent, and athletic.

And Streisand would know one or two things about beloved pets... After all, she's been all over the news for having cloned her dogs on more than one occasion! She cloned a little pooch called Samantha, a pet she loved so much she even honored with a large-sized marble tombstone that included a picture.

Basenji - Kelsey Grammer's Favorite Dog Breed

The basenji is an extraordinary dog. A hunting expert, the basenji breed is one of the few that originated in central Africa. Nicknamed the "barkless dog" due to a strangely-shaped larynx, the basenji is known for producing a one-of-a-kind yodel-like sound.

A fairly rare breed, basenji pets are hard to find, but Frasier's superstar Kelsey Grammer is said to own three! The actor from shows as popular as 30 Rock or Modern Family was photographed with basenji pets before. Online forums dedicated to the rare breed all agree that Grammer's a bonafide basenji fan.

Great Dane - Cameron Diaz's Big, Big Friend

You don't need to know a thing about Great Danes to realize they're huge; after all, it's right there in the name. But more than just a sizable pet, the Great Dane is a lovely and stylish creature that will make you feel safe and in great (no pun intended) company!

One of the many celebrities in love with this special breed is the ever-beautiful Cameron Diaz, who's been photographed more than once next to a Great Dane that's about her size when standing up on two legs. This breed was also a favorite of the Olympic diver Greg Louganis, the musician Glenn Hughes, and the actor/comedian Harold Lloyd.

Jack Russell Terrier - Mariah Carey's Lovable Mommy-Dog

A dog breed from England, Jack Russell terriers, make for a faithful and utterly cute companion. And they're so lovely they even conquered the heart of Mariah Carey, the famous singer behind "All I Want For Christmas Is You," the holiday classic we never grow tired of!

Carey's Jack Russell terrier is called Squeak E. Beans and has recently become a mommy! Beans had three little pups in 2020, whose birth (and cool names) were announced by Carey on Twitter as Pipitty L. Jackson (the girl), The Good Reverend Pow Jackson, and Mutley P. Gore Jackson the 3rd.

Terrier Mix - Kevin Spacey's Old Friend

Actor Kevin Spacey has been in the line of fire ever since he was accused of misconduct in 2017. The former House of Cards star is finding it hard to land new roles in Hollywood, but he can at least count on the company of his cute furry friends for the time being.

Spacey has an old but lovely terrier mix who goes by the name Mini and who's just the absolute charmer! But before the whole Spacey-controversy blew up, the former American Beauty actor got himself a new pup who goes by the name Boston.

Airedale Terrier - Harry Carey's Glorious Pet

The late American actor Harry Carey was a former Western flick hero and silent cinema era superstar. Known for his role as the U.S. President in the 1939 movie Mr. Smith Goes to Washington, Carey was reportedly a proud Airedale terrier owner.

The Airedale terrier is dubbed the "king of terriers" because they're the largest type of terrier breed. Originally from Yorkshire, England, they can grow as much as 24 inches and weigh an impressive 50 pounds. A super-intelligent dog, the Airedale terrier, has been used for all sorts of purposes, from hunting to farming and even as a guide dog!

Doberman - Kevin Hart's Bodyguard Dog

It's impossible to talk about epic breeds without mentioning the magnificent Doberman, comedian Kevin Hart's favorite type of dog. The Doberman is so astute, vigilant, and intelligent it can make for a scary pet and a rather effective bodyguard! But for all we know, Hart loves his three Doberman pets for what they are and not for what they can bring to the table.

They're called Dobes, Roxy, and Rosy, and they're all over the Instagram page of the celebrated Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle actor. Other celebs with Dobermans include actor Forest Whitaker, actor Nicolas Cage, and Lance Ito, the judge on O.J. Simpson's high-profile criminal case.

Cocker Spaniel - Elton John's Best Man

No, it's not a figure of speech. The little cocker spaniel Arthur was literally picked to be the best man at Elton John's wedding, so you can only imagine how much the "Tiny Dancer" singer loved his furry friend.

Sadly, Arthur passed away in 2019 after a lifetime of love and glam. To honor his beloved late pet, John dedicated the song "Don't Let The Sun Go Down On Me" during a Las Vegas performance. Deemed as a near-perfect family dog, cocker spaniels are surprisingly considered to be aggressive. It didn't seem to be the case with the lovely Arthur, though, who looked like a calm and peaceful charmer.

Rottweiler Mix - Harrison Ford's Favorite Co-Star

It's hard to pinpoint the exact breed of Harrison Ford's lovely pet named Kelpie. Some sources have claimed that he's a rottweiler mix, even though he may be just a mixed-breed cutie. Confusingly enough, he looks nothing like the Australian Kelpie breed, regardless of his name.

A very private celebrity, Ford has recently shown how much of a dog lover he can be. In the 2020 movie The Call of the Wild, Ford shared much of the spotlight with a digitally-produced pet that captivated some viewers but got in the nerves of others. Jack London's same-titled 1903 book inspired the movie.

Labrador Retriever - Kevin Costner's Inspiring Dog

The Bodyguard superstar Kevin Costner is certainly a bonafide Hollywood A-lister, and we are willing to bet it's no coincidence that he's a labrador retriever owner because he's also starred in a labrador retriever-inspired movie!

Photographed more than once next to his utterly cute yellow lab, Costner was cast to appear in 2019's The Art of Racing in the Rain, a flick that's as much about Formula One as it is about a charismatic labrador retriever named Enzo. And guess who plays the voice of the superstar dog in the movie? That's right, Kevin Costner!

Mixed-Breed - Robert Pattinson & Kristen Stewart's Heartbreak Bud

Back when Twilight superstars Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart made for one of Hollywood's most exciting couples, they decided to rescue a lovely mixed-breed pup by the name of Bernie. And when the power couple separated, Bernie turned out to be Pattinson's best heartbreak bud.

To endure the split and get back on track again, Pattinson counted heavily on the support of his two pets, Bernie and Bear (also a mixed-breed cutie). It goes to show that a dog's real power doesn't lie in its genetics or pedigree: it's all about the love he has to give.

Yorkshire Terrier - Ivanka Trump's Cutie Pooch

The friendly Labrador retriever is the most popular dog breed in the U.S. But right after comes the Yorkshire terrier, Ivanka Trump's breed of choice. The American businesswoman/former Advisor to the President was photographed with her lovely Yorkshire terrier pup, and the two looked utterly cute together.

If you're looking for a breed that gets along with all kinds of animals, the Yorkshire terrier is the best solution for you. They are known for not displaying the sort of alpha behavior that characterizes many breeds, making them especially easy to deal with.

Scottish Terrier - George W. Bush's "First Dog"

When you're a pup, life doesn't get any better than this! The lovable Barney Bush, also known as the "First Dog," was the official pet of George W. Bush's presidency and made for a fine Scottish terrier specimen. Barney passed away in 2013, but his legacy can still warm our hearts today.

When Bush was the President of the United States, Barney was the highest-ranked dog in the country, and he even had an official webpage that was directly connected to the White House's website! His main interests included playing with golf balls and watching games of horseshoes.

Portuguese Water Dog - The Obamas' Family Dog

Bo is arguably one of the most famous pooches globally, much because few can resist his undeniable charisma and constant friendliness. The other reason is much simpler: he was the former "First Dog" of the United States and the Obama family's official pet.

Bo's breed is somewhat rare, with only approximately 50K Portuguese water dogs living in the U.S. as of 2009. This breed of dog is known to be hypoallergenic and is originally from the region of Algarve, in South Portugal. The lovely Bo was reportedly named after Bo Didley, a late American blues and rock and roll legend.

Pomeranian - Sharon Osbourne's Favorite Dog Breed

We all know television personality Sharon Osbourne for her appearances in The Osbournes, The X Factor, and America's Got Talent. The beautiful British celeb is a bonafide fan of Pomeranians and pups in general. She's published a photo of herself with a huge family of 13 pooches (most coming from rescue shelters), and we were not surprised to see that at least six were Pomeranians!

Besides being a very affable breed, the Pomeranian (or 'Pom,' as Osbourne would put it) is one of the fancier dogs around. Osbourne loves to carry one of her Poms while shopping, and they always look good inside an expensive Chanel purse!

German Shepherd - Jake Gyllenhaal's Special Buddy

The German shepherd is one of the most clever and obedient animals out there. It's no surprise that so many of them end up having a "professional" career, whether as police dogs or as big-screen actors! But some are just pets, like the one and only Atticus.

Atticus is the German shepherd of Jake Gyllenhaal, known for his appearance in movies such as Brokeback Mountain. The actor, who also owns other types of pups, was photographed on multiple occasions walking with the stunning Atticus in the street. Cool fact: did you know that, while most German shepherds are brown and black, there are some rare all-white and all-black specimens?

Pug - Ted Danson's Food-Obsessed Pup

The former Cheers superstar Ted Danson likes to stay in shape, but the same cannot be said of his lovely Pug pup, Roxy. In an interview with People magazine, Danson claimed that the thing he loves and hates the most about Roxy is her obsession with food.

But besides being a foodie, Roxy is, like most Pugs, a friendly and occasionally silly creature that's perfect for keeping any lonely human being in good company! Besides Roxy, Danson has also claimed to be the owner of a miniature Australian Shepherd and a rescued pup by the name of Lulu.

Cavalier King Charles Spaniel - Courteney Cox's New 'Friends'

If you love sitcoms, you'd assume that Rachel, Joey, or Phoebe are Courteney Cox's best friends. But in real life, the former Friends and Cougar Town actress is all about Harley and Hooper. Who? These two cuties are Cox's beloved Cavalier King Charles Spaniels pups, and they make for a duo even cuter than Monica and Chandler!

A lovely breed, the Cavalier King Charles Spaniels, makes for one of the best pets out there. They've been the favorite pooch of countless celebs, including former U.S. President Ronald Reagan, country music singer Brad Paisley, and actress Amanda Bynes.

Basset Hound - David Arquette's Napping Buddy

The American actor, producer, and pro wrestler David Arquette is a man of many talents, best known for his appearance in the Scream movies and the Buffy the Vampire Slayer TV series. But other than that, Arquette is also a dedicated fan of the Basset Hound breed.

In 2016, he shared a picture on Instagram, where he can be seen taking a nap with one of his lovely pups. Reportedly, Arquette owns at least two Basset Hounds. The Basset Hound is originally from France and is known for its infallible sense of smell and sausage-like shape.

Greyhound - J.K. Rowling's Adopted Sapphire

Known as the highly-accomplished author of the Harry Potter series, the English writer J.K. Rowling likes to keep a low profile when it comes to her personal life. Still, it was reported she owns at least two pups: a dog named Butch and an adopted greyhound who goes by the name Sapphire.

The news that Rowling had decided to adopt a greyhound was shared on the official PETA website as a way of raising awareness towards the violent and cruel dog racing industry. According to PETA, thousands of greyhounds are killed every year simply because they're not fast enough.

Bull Terrier - Tom Holland's Sidekick Girl

The English actor Tom Holland became popular for playing Spider-Man in movies such as Captain America: Civil War, Spider-Man: Homecoming, and Avengers: Endgame. A charming young lad who's very popular with the ladies, Holland seems only to have eyes for one girl: the exceptional Tess.

No, Tess is not Holland's girlfriend, but rather his beloved Bull Terrier pet. The utterly cute pup has appeared on Holland's Instagram feed multiple times. The actor's Internet followers were lucky enough to watch her grow from a tiny puppy to a big, beautiful Bull Terrier specimen!

Pembroke Welsh Corgi - Queen Elizabeth’s Affectionate Lifelong Mates

Queen Elizabeth’s affection for Pembroke Welsh Corgis has been documented for decades. It all started in her youth with the Corgi Dookie and continued to her young adulthood when she received Susan as a present and even took her on her honeymoon with Prince Philip.

Vogue speculates that every Corgi that Queen has owned can be traced back to Susan and her offspring. Can you blame Her Majesty for being enamored with the short-legged charmers? Even royalty can’t resist their affectionate nature, earning them a pampered life living in Buckingham Palace.
