Thousands of men everywhere hang up their razors and let it all grow out at some point. We're talking about their mustaches and beards. Faces that are normally as smooth as a child's skin sport fuzz in various styles, lengths, and colors. It's done for a good cause, to shine the spotlight on issues pertaining to men's health like suicide prevention, testicular cancer, and prostate cancer. It's for a commendable cause. But there are men who wear a mustache all or most of the time as a style choice and celebrities are among them. Just for fun, let's see which celebs are hot and which are not with their mustaches.
Tom Selleck

All hail the greatest of all time! Behold the fullness, form, and shape that among celebs across the globe is the most stupendous ever. Its owner, actor Tom Selleck, made it famous from his days during the 1980s as Thomas Magnum on the Magnum P.I. hit television show. He also made Hawaiian shirt cool. Among Selleck's other work was having the leading part on The Sacketts, a western film made for TV and inspired by a couple of author Louis L'Amour's books. Selleck's wealth comes up to about $45M in 2019. Good job, mustache!
Hulk Hogan

Retired WWE star Hulk Hogan has done a lot for popularizing this style of mustache called a horseshoe. Hogan's trademark way of styling his stache makes it readily identified with him even if his face isn't seen. The style is also synonymous with Hell's Angels bikers and can be regarded as the typical mustache of tough guys. Hogan couples his 'stache with his biker style clothes like his black T-shirt, baggy jeans, and bandana. He also loves his shades with the rectangular shape. Hogan, who got himself delisted from the members of the WWE Hall of Fame in 2015 following an incident, was reinstated in 2018.
Sam Elliott

Since we're speaking about mustache-sporting men, how about actor Sam Elliott's bushy mouser? Could you get any more legendary than that? Elliott's mustache might actually be more well-known than Elliott himself. Though he has changed its color and shape over time, it never fails to be riveting. Even now, it's hard not to focus your attention above his upper lip, even with his mustache all gray. It's definitely a temple of hair above the lips. Sam and his 'stache had a lead role in the 2018 dramatic musical movie, A Star Is Born.
George Clooney

We have to say that actor George Clooney is so rocking that mustache that he looks better with a mustache than he does without. That mustache is perfectly groomed and styled in a manner that suits him. We know GQ would approve. The look isn't exactly the same as this one here, but Clooney wears a mustache with a beard in a new 2019 Hulu series called Catch-22. The show is set in World War II and Clooney's part is that of Air Force Lieutenant Scheisskopf. Needless to say, Clooney kills the look, and the cameras don't lie.
Brad Pitt

This is the epitome of growing old gracefully from a male perspective - minus any baldness. We met actor Brad Pitt as a young man in 1991 in the movie Thelma & Louise. Since then, we have been seeing him at the different stages of getting older and from the 2000s, we've seen him doing it with a mustache for the most part. But as he has matured, his mustache-look has changed with his life stage. But no matter what he does, Brad Pitt is just hot. Watch him in the movie War Machine from 2017 as he played General Glen McMahon to know what we mean.
Will Ferrell

It's Ron Burgundy from the Anchorman: Legend of Ron Burgundy movies, who believes he's the hottest anchor on television. If you say you're not impressed, we won't believe you, especially when it comes to his mustache. Will Ferrell who played this role went the extra mile to play the part for the 2004 and 2013 films, and that meant growing the 'stache with the cheesy style as well. The mustache became so much of a trademark that Amazon began selling Ron Burgundy mustache and wallet sets. Ferrell also starred in the hilarious Holmes & Watson film in 2018.
Clark Gable

Clark Gable was one of those actors coming from the '20s and '30s who made the pencil mustache fashionable. Actually, he went a far way in making just having a mustache fashionable. He didn't have one during his early days as a young actor in his 20s. It was said that he really preferred having none and would even shave the hair on his chest because he considered them unclean. But when he had to start having a mustache for movie roles as in The White Sister, and It Happened One Night, he found that it worked really well for his image and his bank account, so it became his trademark.
Robert Redford

Actor Robert Redford, the creator of the Sundance Film Festival, was considered to be very handsome in his heydays and his hairstyles unforgettable. Women from his generation think he's still good looking. Whenever he had a movie role that called for a lot of seriousness, he'd grow a mustache to add some grit to his sweet movie star face. The style of 'stache that he's associated with is the woke. This style also communicated a bit of rebellion as with the singing group The Beatles who, at one point, all got woke styles. Redford, who retired from acting in 2018, did a cameo appearance in the 2019 movie, Avengers: Endgame.
Burt Reynolds

The younger generation knew the hairy upper lipped actor Burt Reynolds only. However, when he did early movies such as Deliverance in '72 and The Longest Yard in '74, the area between his nose and top lip were as smooth as a baby's skin. However, he grew a huge caterpillar 'stache for Smokey and the Bandit and from that time on, he held on to it as his style. It was even sported many years later in the movie, Boogie Nights. But from what we heard, Burt was quite the ladies man with it.
Sacha Baron Cohen

As we progress down our list, we come to an English actor/comedian who many of us recognize as Borat. Sacha Baron Cohen is the actor who created this character, and he has created several others like Ali G, and Erran Morad. Sacha's lip fuzz, which actually looks like a huge caterpillar that crawled onto his lip, is possibly the most iconic celebrity mustache that exists. And he doesn't even need any other movie props to look hilarious! However, it's in keeping with his comedic character's look. Sacha acted in the movie Grimsby, in 2016, playing a hooligan English footballer who was the brother of an MI6 spy.
Paul Newman

Paul Newman was an actor, IndyCar owner, race car driver, and movie director, and these were great. But one more thing he was was a mustache owner. Newman was another leading man from back in the day who was viewed as very handsome, smooth, and 'a man's man.' During the '60s and '70s, Newman had title roles in some of the more iconic films like Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid and The Life and Times of Judge Roy Bean. In Cars, the Disney-Pixar movie, he voiced Doc Hudson. For Cars 3, released in 2017, his voice recordings were used.
Rollie Fingers

For MLB pitcher Rollie Fingers, his sweet stache was his trademark. A great player, Rollie won both the MVP and AL Cy Young awards in 1981. But in February 1986, he was forced to choose between his career or his 'stache. While playing for his first team, the Oakland Athletics, the team's owner Charlie Finley promised $300 to anyone who, through Opening Day, would be able to grow and groom the best facial hair. Fingers won and he kept the hair. When his later team, the Milwaukee Brewers, released him at age 39, he was offered a spot on the Cincinnati Reds, but the team's rules said 'no facial hair.' Rollie chose to retire.
James Franco

In preparing for his work on HBO's The Deuce, actor/filmmaker James Franco began growing a mustache. Since the show started airing in 2017, he has been playing 1970s twin adult film stars Vincent Martino and Frankie Martino, who are both somewhat sleazy. So he is making money from sporting that look. But naturally, Franco can't remove the mustache when not acting, and he seems determined to work it wherever he goes, like on the red carpet, or out with his pals. The only problem is it's not the greatest look for his off-cam life. Even GQ weighed in on the look to vote it 'not cool.'
Michael Cera

Do you have the urge to grab that little furry thing that's attacking the Arrested Development, and Superbad actor Michael Cera's face and stomp on it until it's dead? That thing feels a little shady. Michael is typically known for what is termed his 'geeky chic' but in 2012, he apparently felt all manly and stuff and went for a mustache and an unruly mop of hair. He might have been going for rustic, but nope, that didn't work. Your style might have flopped but we know you can act Michael, like in the 2018 movie Gloria Bell in which you played Peter. At least you're willing to experiment.
Samuel L. Jackson

Actor Samuel L. Jackson's mustache in the 1994 hit movie Pulp Fiction might have been among the most dangerous we've ever seen on the screen, but it started a style revolution. It's called the Winnfield style. Jackson, who played Jules Winnfield, sported a horseshoe mustache accompanied by long sideburns which didn't connect to the 'stache. There were men everywhere who loved it and began wearing it as a facial look. Who knew? Jackson's mustache, Jherri-curled wig, and wicked acting skills got him an Oscar nomination. In 2019, he will be in 6 movies in total. One is Shaft in which he acts as John Shaft II.
Freddie Mercury

British rocker Freddie Mercury was the lead singer of the rock band, Queen. But his amazing work extended from music to also cover the hair on his face. For years, Freddie dressed like a typical rocker. Then in the '80s, he suddenly cut his hair low, tossed aside his glamorous rocker look, and began wearing a black leather jacket. He also grew a thick mouser that was to be envied. But sadly for him, a lot of his fans hated the stache, and while the group performed in the US, they would throw razors on the stage. In 2018, a box-office hit film about him and Queen was released called Bohemian Rhapsody.
Nick Offerman

In the annals of mustache history, you'll find actor Nick Offerman of the TV comedy Parks and Recreation and his cookie-duster recorded. In that comedy, he played Ron Swanson, and he was a character that none could forget. The show's run came to an end in early 2015 and by late May, the 'stache was gone. When asked in an interview about its fate, he explained that he was a character actor and it was a tool - like movie props - that he needed to play his role in the comedy. In 2019, Offerman voiced MetalBeard on The Lego Movie 2: The Second Part.
Colin Farrell

Could actor Colin Farrell look more ruggedly handsome in his handlebar 'stache? His reveal in 2015 as being one of the stars in the second season of the HBO series, True Detective was momentous due to the fact that he was also debuting a mustache. It was all a part of his tough cop image in his role as Det. Ray Velcoro. He didn't keep the mustache for the entire season but lost it when his character underwent a transformation. But while he had it, it was awesome. Farrell continues his movie career in 2019, and celebrity news says that he'll play Simon in the action-thriller, Eve.
Bradley Cooper

In 2018, GQ credited actor Bradley Cooper, with sporting a mustache to elegant effect. In the musical movie A Star Is Born, he wore a sweet mustache like a stylist's masterpiece and full growth of beard. But allow us to say that with Cooper's good looks, he can pull off any style. Apart from being one of A Star Is Born's stars, the production was his directorial debut. He also produced and co-wrote it. The film was nominated for eight Oscars and five Golden Globe Awards. Across the globe, it raked in more than $434 million in earnings. Maybe the 'stache was good luck?
Johnny Depp

No list about Hollywood mustaches would be complete without this actor/musician Johnny Depp. In the photo on the right, he's sporting one of his signature looks - his thin mustache with a goatee beard, and of course, he's wearing eyeglasses. Often with this look, he leaves patchy hairs on his cheeks or a beard fade from sideburns to the jawline. And who could forget his mustache and beard look in the Pirates of The Caribbean film series? He was a true rogue. Depp formed Hollywood Vampires, a rock supergroup, and was a cast member in the 2018 movie Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald.
Leonardo DiCaprio

Some say that since 2000, you can figure how well a movie that actor/producer Leonardo DiCaprio acts in will do at the box office by his facial hair. If he has none, the movie usually does poorly, and when he has a full growth of beard, the film does very well. In the 2002 historical drama epic film, Gangs of New York, he wasn't clean-shaven. In fact, he not only had his mustache but a full growth of beard which toughened his look and gave a 'manlier' effect. DiCaprio has done several movies as a producer. In 2018, he put out Delirium and Robin Hood.
Ryan Gosling

Though the mustache that actor Ryan Gosling has makes him look so different, it's good different. To play his part in the 2016 movie The Nice Guys, Ryan grew some hair fuzz. Some people loved it, some didn't. But Gosling grew the upper lip hair out of a deep commitment to the role and to his craft. The movie is about a washed-up detective who has the job of getting to the bottom of a plot. Gosling shone in that film and so did his mustache. He also did very well on First Man in 2018.
Sammy Davis Jr.

For being the most distinguished entertainer on the planet, Sammy Davis Jr. the actor-singer, dancer, comedian, and vaudevillian was made a member of the Hall of Fame for Rhythm & Blues. He was known as a smooth, talented performer and a slick dresser, augmenting his style with his jewelry. Davis wore the thin pencil mustache that became popular among entertainers that started out during the '20s and the '30s. It added some grit to his image. Among his noteworthy abilities was his amazing skill in doing impressions of his fellow celebs.
Sean Connery

The original 007, Sean Connery is usually associated with this role in movies like Dr. No, and Diamonds Are Forever. However, he did have several others like The Hunt For Red October, and Finding Forrester. In his picture showing a horseshoe lip brow, he's seriously repping Sherlock Holmes known for the hair on his face and his pipe. Connery had a 'stache like this in the '74 film Zardoz that was more than epic. He was going bald then but had a long ponytail, and wore a weird outfit. Connery, who is retired, is worth $350M in 2019.
Jude Law

What a transformation actor Jude Law goes through, showing a difference on his face! In an interview with Glamour magazine, Law said he changes his styles with his roles. So he got more clothes dressing like the character Watson in the Sherlock Holmes' movies, grew sideburns, and a mustache. A jacket with jeans didn't look acceptable with his new look, so he donned a big jumper and a corduroy jacket. All at once, he was cool again. Law acted as the unreal Pope Pius XIII in the movie Young Pope in 2017.
Denzel Washington

Denzel Washington is one of the actors who you sometimes see with a mustache, even though he seems to prefer to be cleanly shaven. In 2015, Twitter went crazy when Denzel went out to have a little fun and in the process debuted a new mustache look, which is the one seen here. The consensus from the public was that they didn't like it. It was called 'creepy' and 'the worst mustache of all time.' But as it turned out, it was meant for the full movie The Magnificent Seven, that he was about to start filming. In 2018, he was in The Equalizer 2, and he didn't have that 'stache.
Alex Trebek

The host of Jeopardy!, Alex Trebek, has at times gone cleanly shaven. But there are times when he wears a rather nice caterpillar on his face. It's also very famous. When Alex returned on a Monday for season number 35 of the game show, there was a silver beard accompanying his silver mustache. By Thursday, his face was totally free of hair. Videos posted by the show showed him daily on Instagram shaving. Trebek had asked the public when he still had the beard to vote if he should keep it, but his wife, Jean, voted to shave it all off. In 2018, Alex appeared as himself on Orange is the New Black.
Groucho Marx

It's uncertain if this mustache is real. It's said to be fake and does look it. However, it's globally famous, along with the eyeglasses that always accompanied it. Both sat on the face of the former comedian and vaudevillian entertainer, Groucho Marx. The mustache was said to have been drawn onto his lip, and the same was the situation with those thick eyebrows. Marx had a quick wit and was thought to be among the most extraordinary comedians produced by the USA. Marx lived to be 86 years old and had worked 71 years of his life in entertainment.
Chris Evans

We're looking at an actor who has worn practically every popular haircut and maybe every popular hair gel as well. On him - Chris Evans - the styles look so fine. The mustache he has here doesn't go with his Captain America image and detracts from his attractive face. A lot of his fans hate it. Fortunately, it was discovered that the reason he started displaying it in 2018 was for a role he had on a Broadway play, Lobby Hero, in which he plays a policeman named Bill. So his fans breathed a sigh of relief and hoped the lip rug would disappear as soon as the play closed.
Milo Ventimiglia

Since 2016, Milo Ventimiglia has been starring in the TV program, This Is Us. Reducing viewers to a crying heap through his character is something he's skilled at doing. If we were to make a bet, we'd say his spiffy mustache makes his performances more convincing, which tear at our insides. However, the original script called for no mustache. But the head of the makeup department, Zoe Hay, and the one in charge of costume, Hala Bahmet, convinced the producers that the character should have one. Milo won a Screen Actor Guild Award in 2018 and 2019 for the show.
Henry Cavill

What do you think about the idea of actor Henry Cavill playing James Bond? He has the look and possibly uses a fantastic hair conditioner, but that's a matter for the future. Henry portrayed a significant villain character on Mission Impossible - Fallout in 2018. For this, he had a thick 'stache and stubble combo. However, Cavill also played Superman in the 2017 Justice League movie, and when there was overlap in the production of the two movies, it caused a little problem. Cavill needed to do reshoots for Justice League but Superman had no mustache. So his facial hair was digitally removed after shooting.
Paul Rudd

A-lister Paul Rudd's handlebar mustache gives an old school 1970s vibe, being so thick and full. He's making a classic look both fashionable and cool. His style is so spot-on. Rudd did it for a 2018 movie named Mute that was being filmed at the time. But in sporting the mustache so well, he proved that he could pull off one of the most difficult mustaches-looks, verifying that he can roll with the big boys like Tom Selleck, Burt Reynolds, Nick Offerman, and Sam Elliott. Maybe his smile says it all. Way to go Paul!
Robert Downey Jr.

The man who plays Iron Man on the big screen, Robert Downey Jr., has been known to wear the mustache and goatee combo off-screen. That is, of course, the character Tony Stark's trademark look in the Marvel movies. The thin 'stache is an important element in pulling the complete look together. Downey Jr., in early 2019, to have a bit of fun, posted the question on Twitter as to who has the best-looking lip fur. Was it him, Chris Evans or Mark Ruffalo? In April 2019, the result was announced and it turned out to be none of them! Downey Jr. though does have the perfect smile.
